Compare and contrast conventional “Western” medicine with Complimentary Alternative Medicine, like Chiropractic
topic: Chiropractic medicine, a form of complimentary alternative medicine (CAM)is controversial. Compare Western Medicine with CAM and then go on to explain the research behind why chiropractic practice in Canada or North America is controversial (does it lack scientific validity, reliability?, use of X-rays, accrediation to become a Chiropractor in Canada - Degree, Schools) etc
a. What are the “core” philosophical or “key aspects” of each healing system? (Examples may include philosophical statements, concepts and ideas; concepts of “disease”, “illness”, “health”, treatment, views of the human body, etc.
b. What are the main similarities, and differences, between the two?
c. How is each healing system shaped or influenced by “power issues”? (i.e., How has history, politics, the government/state, public opinion, societal culture or views, etc. influenced each healing system?)
