Description
Each student is to produce a portfolio of practical work to show their understanding of operating systems and file handling.
Using appropriate tools and techniques, a variety of file types from a range of operating systems and file handling systems must be examined and their attributes identified and described.
A minimum of 10 different file types selected from different file handling systems and operating systems are to be analysed using a hex editor or similar investigating tools.
Each individual file report is to consist of a description of the file, the file handling system it is managed under and the operating system from which it has been taken.
The description of the file is to include its structure, the analysis performed and a description of any security features or other features specific to the file that are
deemed relevant.
Practical work/examples from outside the described area are acceptable, provided they demonstrate the students understanding of the subject area.
