A lawyer rings you up and asks what if anything you, as a psychologist, can offer her in terms of a preliminary opinion in respect of this case. She is only able to offer you the following material as she has picked up the details from the duty solicitor this morning, who suggested she would be more appropriate to deal with the case.
Mr Bruce Hughes, a 60 year old mental health worker and well-known Buddhist was attending on Doris an out-patient from the local mental health clinic, who tells everyone she is nearly 70 and in her early life was a black belt karate expert. Mrs Doris Blair is a bit lonely since the death of her husband John some ten years ago, and her pet cat a few months ago, and is seen as a 'bit odd' by the local kids who are known to terrorise vulnerable old people. Unfortunately she forgot he was visiting around teatime on Saturday afternoon and thought she was about to be attacked by a burglar. In a moment of panic she kicked and hit him in such a way that he hit his head on the door and subsequently died. His body was found three days later by Bruce's colleague, who became concerned when he did not turn up for work on the Monday afternoon shift.
