Description
in this dissertation I will be using Baudrillards theory of Hypereality to argue the point that television creates a distorted view on reality. I will also look at Bathes Semiotics and George Gerbner’s Cultivation Theory.
I will structure it into 3 section looking firstly at the News and its imagery and language part one, part to I will look at documentary’s, and finally travel and tourism programs looking at how they portray destinations to the public and romanticize the stereotypical symbol’s we associate with the countries. For example when we think of Spain now we imagine bull fights, Barcelona, the arts etc when we go there the reality it is not so perfect. In reality The bullfights are grim cruel spectacles etc…..
