Description
You can be declaring your independence from anything—your family, your friends, a stereotype, a political philosophy, pop culture, bad habits—anything. Think about something in your life that you feel has a level of governance over you that you would rather it not. Include a philosophical explanation for why you deserve your sovereignty, and discuss how you hope your life will change once you are independent of this entity.
Keeping Thomas Jefferson’s ideas in mind, apply them to your own problem. Discuss the “governing body,” how it governs you, how it is problematic, and the steps you will enact to change it. Get creative! Write at least one page, but you can write more if you feel inspired! It is best to do the work in a word-processor, so you can check for grammar and spelling errors and make corrections before you submit your work.
Use the rubric below as a guideline for completing this assignment.
